The Jane Addams Trail covers 12.85 miles of
scenic Northwest Illinois between
Freeport and the Wisconsin state line. A level grade, crushed limestone
surface mostly parallels Richland Creek over 21 bridges, past natural
wetlands and exposed rock embankments. The trail is your link
between the Grand Illinois Trail System and the Wisconsin State
Trail system via the Wisconsin Badger Trail. Come hike, bicycle,
snowmobile, or ski cross country. The Orangeville Trailhead
offers parking; picnic shelter with electrical power, water,
barbecue grill, and tables; a primitive camping area; pit
toilets; and nearby food vendors.
Contact the Jane Addams Trail at (815) 233-1357 or visit their
Web site. |

| Butterfly Farm covers 82 acres of tall grass
prairie, woodlands, and wetlands owned by the Jane Addams
Parkland Foundation. You may walk or bike to the walking trails
via the Jane Addams Trail. There are four access points along
the trail between the IL Route 26 crossing and Brush Creek Road.
The closest parking area is at the Orangeville Trail Head, and
the first access point is south on the trail about 1 mile, just
beyond the Golf Course. There are currently no public restroom
or water facilities. Please respect the private residence on the
property. |
