Grant: The 2008 Safe Routes to School awards were announced in August, 2009. They were able to award $13.7 million to almost 90 communities, funding 171 Safe Routes to School Projects across the state. Orangeville will receive up to $18,000 under the category of "Create traffic controls using traffic lights or signs." The travel plan called for a crossing light at Church and High streets. If there is a 2010 cycle, we plan to update our travel plan and reapply for the sidewalk funding. Energy Assistance: Funds are available for qualified Stephenson County residents through the low income Home Energy Assistance Program.
